Beginner Horse Back Riding Lessons

Give your child the experience they have been dreaming of.  Each lesson consists of basic grooming, riding and horse care for beginner riders in the English Saddle style.  All riders are required to wear long pants and hard sole shoes with 1 inch heel.  Looking for that special time with your child?  Take lessons together.  A maximum of 5 riders per class, classes fill quickly.  Register early for a rewarding and unforgettable experience.  Lessons are available Monday-Friday evening hours and Saturday-Sunday afternoon hours.  Call Paula at 248.431.0940 for availability.

Home Alone Training
Will your young teen be staying home alone this summer?  Prepare yourself and your child for this new adventure with Home Alone Training.  Instructor Merry Lowis presents the skills your child will need to be home alone safely. Includes walking home, key responsibility, securing the house, answering the phone, safe choices, and emergency procedures. Training follows the American Red Cross Curriculum. Completion card is presented upon completion of the workshop. Hand-outs are included.

Babysitter Training
Instructor Merry Lowis presents the skills needed to start your own babysitting business - basics such as meeting the family, setting appointments, age appropriate activities and safety instruction. Handouts are included. Completion card is presented upon completion of the workshop. Program incorporates the American Red Cross guide and video into the curriculum.  Suggested pre-requisite class:  Home Alone Training.

Boater Safety Course

Open to persons of all ages. This DNR Course is designed to teach you how to be a safe and responsible boater. Class covers basic fundamentals: boat maintenance, personal watercraft and boat operation, legal requirements or boating, personal preparedness and survival skills. After passing the required test, those 12 years and older are give Boating Safety Certificate Cards. Persons born after 12/31/78 are required by law to have this card in their possession while operating a personal watercraft on State of Michigan waterways. Students 8-10 must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is required. Instructor: Chuck Comstock. Students should bring a sack lunch and beverages for the day.  Also bring a highlighter, #2 pencil and black or dark blue ballpoint pen.

Off Road Vehicle Safety Course

Open to persons of all ages, but is required for students under 16 years of age who wish to operate an ORV (ATV, motorcycle or related 2-wheel, 3-wheel or 4-wheel vehicle). To earn your DNR ORV Safety Certificate Card, students must attend 7 hours of instruction and pass a written exam. Students 10 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Learn Gun Safety with Eddie Eagle

It is estimated that over 50% of the homes in the U.S. have a gun in them. Even if yours doesn't, there us a very real chance that your child could come in contact with one at any number of places. They need to know what to do. In this class, the children will be taught the NRA's Eddie Eagle program with the fundamental message-Stop, Don't Touch, Run Away, Tell a Grown Up.
