VOTER REGISTRATION OPPORTUNITIES

- Voter registration forms are available at the Township Clerk’s office and on the Secretary of State’s website (). By law, voters registering by mail for their first registration in Michigan must appear in person at a polling place the first time they vote.

Effective with the 2016 elections, some precinct boundaries have been adjusted and there is a new precinct and polling location. Voters affected by any changes have been sent notice of the change.

Michigan Voter Information Center (MVIC):
provides residents with information regarding their voter registration status, upcoming elections, clerk information and how to use the voting equipment chosen by their county. You can also see a map and address for voter’s polling locations. The application provides the name, address, phone number and email address of the voter’s clerk.

Families Against Narcotics (FAN)
Have you or a loved one been touched by addiction and need support?
Please join local Families Against Narcotics (FAN) at 6:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at Woodside Church, located at 2500 Joslyn Road, Lake Orion, MI 48360 effective February 2016. The goal is to equip you with resources to bring an effective prevention, support, and recovery program for you and your family. FAN is committed to strengthen community-wide efforts to promote a healthier Oakland County through prevention, recovery, and support. Please visit www.noccmi.org for additional information.
Garbage Pickup/Recycling Services
Per Ordinance 73, all companies providing waste disposal services in Orion Township must be licensed. They are also required to offer recycling services to their residential customers at no extra charge and to collect those recyclables at least every other week. Recyclables may not be thrown into trash hauling vehicles -they must be collected in a separate vehicle. click here for recycling requirements.

Non-profit groups who wish to solicit funds in the community must register with the Township Clerk’s Office. Per Ordinance 95, all other solicitors must apply for a permit ($35 application fee for first 30 days and $15 for each additional 30 day period). Solicitors are allowed to go door-to-door between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1/2 hour before sunset in Orion Township.
If a solicitor comes to your door, ask to see the license. If it cannot be produced, call the Clerk’s Office, or non-emergency dispatch (248) 858-4950, to report the violation.
If you wish to close streets or roads for a neighborhood block party, you must submit an application to the Township Clerk’s office at least six (6) weeks prior to the requested date in order to obtain the necessary permit from the Road Commission for Oakland County. Michigan Organ Donor Registry
The Michigan Organ Donor Registry is a database of residents who wish to be organ and tissue donors that is maintained by the Department of State. The registry is confidential and can only be accessed by Gift of Life Michigan to assist hospitals in the recovery and transplantation of organs and tissue.
Besides signing up online, you can add your name to the Organ Donor Registry when you:
- Renew or replace your standard driver's license or state ID card online at ExpressSOS.com.
- Visit a Secretary of State office and simply let the clerk know you want your name added to the Michigan Organ Donor Registry.
- Renew your state ID card by mail by checking the organ donor box and your name will be placed on the donor registry.
Requests to Use Township Hall
Township Hall is available for use for specific reasons. To see if your group qualifies, please email the Clerk’s Office or call them at (248) 391-0304, ext. 104, prior to filling out and submitting the requested form.
The mission of the Clerk’s Office is to have custody of and maintain all Township records, including official documents such as minutes, contracts, resolutions, and ordinances; to produce and maintain the General Ledger and generate financial statements; to maintain the voter registration file and administer all elections; to generate payroll, process payables, and to act as secretary to the Board of Trustees. The Clerk’s Office also publishes all legal notices and serves as an information and referral center to the public. We will provide these functions in a friendly, efficient and quality manner in service to the community, Township Board, and Township employees.
