5K Dragon Dash

Whether you run or walk, join us for the 21st annual Dragon Dash! This annual tradition welcomes in the Spring training season with a 5K certified course beginning and ending at the Orion Center following the Polly Ann Trail south toward Civic Center Park to kick off your outdoor exercise ritual. Awards presented to the overall top male and female participant, masters divison (50+) as well as the top three male and female runners in each age division. All levels of runners and walers are invited, from beginner to competitive.

Race Shirts:      Shirts must be ordered at time of registration, before April 15 and can be picked up after May 10 in the Orion Center. Shirts in limited sizes and amounts will be available on race day. 
Fee:       $25, includes long sleeve shirt if ordered before April 15
       $15, race only, does not include shirt
       $10, student discount (under 18), does not include shirt

Indoor Community Garage Sale

Your favorite community garage sale has moved indoors!  The kids finally back in school and the house is empty, it’s time to clear out the clutter!  Stay warm and dry indoors, bring it in, use our space to sell, sell, sell. Don’t worry about the weather, making signs, putting them out or people parking on your grass. We do all the work for you!  Household items only, no wholesalers/businesses please. We supply the table, chair and advertising.  All merchandise is limited to your table so be sure to purchase adequate space! Any unsold merchandise must be removed at conclusion of the sale by the owner. Vendor set up opens at 8:30 am.  Spaces are limited.  Parking and Admission is FREE!

26th Annual Tree & Shrub Fundraiser

ReLeaf Michigan, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit tree planting organization, will sell 4-6 feet (depending on species) bare root trees & shrubs for spring planting. The shrubs are 1-2 ft and evergreens are containerized and are approx. 1 1/2 ft. Spring is a great time to plant trees & shrubs. Orders will be accepted now-April. On-line ordering and complete species and prices will be available in January through our website Tentative tree pick up will be at Friendship Park on April 30. 

Breakfast at Tiffany's
Join us for Breakfast at Tiffany's. Wear black or turquoise and glam it up with pearls! Enjoy brunch, tea and treats as we view the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard, filmed in 1961 from a book written by Truman Capote. The story is about Holly Go lightly, a naive eccentric socialite, who lives in New York, who falls for her neighbor Paul, who is a writer. She can be seen window shopping at Tiffany's while she eats breakfast pastries. The movie won two academy Awards for Best Original Score and Best Song"Moon River" by Henry Mancini. Hepburn was nominated for Best Actress.

Adaptive Dance
Special need and individuals with disabilities ages 15+ and older are invited to an evening of music, dancing, and light refreshments at the Orion Center, 1335 Joslyn Rd in Orion Township. Pre-registration preferred, walk-ins are welcome.  Chaperones are free.

Blow Your Own Ornament Workshop

Come to the Oxford Glass Studio and help the glassblower, Dave Hilty, create a one-of-a-kind heirloom ornament for yourself or a gift. Pine Lake Glassworks is offering children and adults from age 5 to 105, the rare opportunity to blow glass this holiday season. We will show you how ornaments are made. You will choose your ornament style, colors and actually assist the glassblower in the entire process! Let us do all the hard-work for you allowing you to have all the fun, doing the actual "blowing" earning yourself the title of a "glassblower" by the completion of the class. Your unique to you ornament will be available or pick up or shipping the following day. No experience necessary- beginners are welcome! Appointment times are 20 minutes each and fill quickly. Register in person at the Orion Center, 1335 Joslyn Rd to choose your personal appointment. Cash, check or money orders are accepted. On-line registration is not accepted for this program.

Boo Bash

Join us for an evening of Halloween fun, including cider and donuts, hay wagon rides, trick-or-treat street, crafts, carnival games and much more! Pre-registration is required, spaces are limited. Infants in carriers are free with registered sibling. Don't forget your camera, costume, flashlight and a trick-or-treat bag for all of your goodies! Walgreens will be on site taking photos in front of a festive fall-themed background. All families will receive 1 free 4X6 print and will have the option of purchasing a photo package.

Breakfast with the Grinch

The holiday season is here! Come to the Orion Center to enjoy breakfast with the Grinch. Participants will enjoy a delicious breakfast of green eggs and ham. Have your picture taken with the Grinch and sit back while you enjoy the story of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Santa may also be stopping by for a visit. Remember to bring your camera for a photo opportunity you don't want to miss. Infants in carriers are free with a registered participant. Walgreens will be on site taking photos in front of a festive background. All families will receive 1 free 4X6 print and will have the option of purchasing a photo package. Only registered participants will be served breakfast. Parents planning to eat must also register.

Luminary Walk

Join the Community Programs Staff at this NEW family friendly event. The trails at Camp Agawam will be lit with hundreds of luminaries as groups are lead on guided night hikes to visit story tellers along the way. Wonder about the universe while storytellers regale participants with stories related to this year's theme: Constellations. Head back to Alberici to enjoy hot coco and light snacks. This event will take place in the elements, so be sure to dress for the weather.

Scrapbooking Crop

Baby it's cold outside so stay indoors and join us for our second annual 12 Hour Scrapbooking Crop and crop until you drop! Bunny Bop

Spring is in the air! Hop on over to the Orion Center for a photo visit with a special bunny, refreshments, craft projects, an egg hunt with toys and candy stuffed eggs and a few other surprises. Bring your own basket for filling with candy and prizes. Youth will be broken down by age fro equal opportunity hunting for all ages. Egg hunt will be held indoors in the event of inclement weather. Don't forget your camera! Walgreens will be onsite to capture the moment, optional photo purchase available. Children in carriers and adults with registered participates are free.

Giving Tree

Create fond holiday memories that will last a lifetime with our new community tradition, Giving Tree.  Bring your new and gently used mittens, hats, and scarves to decorate our indoor trees.  These items will be donated to Orion and area residents in need.  Donated edible “decorations” will be hung on nearby outdoor trees for the area wildlife to snack on during the cold winter months ahead.  Join us for hot cocoa, cider, snacks and carols in the Orion Center.  Suggestions for edible decorations:  popcorn balls, popcorn garland, slices of apples, carrots and oranges, pine cones with peanut butter and birdseed.  Use your imagination but please keep in mind ribbon, tinsel and such are unsafe for animals to ingest.
